Every Argument for Upgrading with One of Our Glock Magwells

First time hearing about a part called a magwell? No worries, we’ll break down what a Glock magwell is and why these are among the most valuable Glock upgrades for the money. Let’s dive in.

What Is a Glock Magwell?

First off, magwell is short for magazine well. To keep things as simple as possible, a magwell is a part designed to mount at the base of the magazine chute. Normally, a magwell will feature a flared opening, thereby serving almost like a funnel, making it easier for you to guide the magazine up and into the firearm.

That’s what a magwell is, at its most basic. So why should you get one?

Alright, Why Should You Upgrade with a Glock Magwell?

As it turns out there are several good reasons to get a Glock magwell. Here are the best of them.

  • No modifications are needed. Some Glock upgrades may require more or less extensive modifications for compatibility. That’s not the case with our magwells. Our Glock magwells are not only designed for wide compatibility with many models and generations of Glock pistols. They’re designed to be compatible with your Glock just the way it is, without requiring a special trip to the gunsmith, or any modifications, actually. That said, modifications you’ve already made (like stippling or frame mods) can compromise compatibility. If you have any questions contact us before buying and we’ll let you know.
  • You don’t have to decide between a magwell and some other part. Suppose you want to install a muzzle device. You have some choices to make; for instance, would you rather have a suppressor or compensator? You can’t reasonably have both. With a Glock magwell there are no such hard choices; it’s not one or the other in any sense. There’s also no other sort of accessory that you even could mount to the bottom of your mag chute.
  • They’re easy to install (and remove, if you like). Some accessories and Glock upgrades are undoubtedly harder to install than others. For instance, installing a threaded muzzle device is easy, installing a new pair of sights can be somewhat challenging (although it isn’t necessarily hard). With that said, these Glock magwells are among the easiest Glock upgrades you could possibly make. They come with a set screw that offers a precision, OEM-like fit. It couldn’t be easier.
  • They’re built tough (and are low maintenance, too). Our Glock magwells are made from a billet of solid 7075 aluminum, making them not only lightweight and strong, but also corrosion resistant. As firearm parts go, they’re about as tough as they come. On top of that, they’re basically maintenance free. Think about it. Barrels, muzzle devices, mags, even trigger groups need to be cleaned. Your magwell? Not so much, and even if it does get all fouled up, all you need to do is wipe it off.
  • They’re fairly affordable as Glock upgrades go. Just check out the price of our Glock magwells. They’re considerably more affordable than slides, barrels and muzzle devices. They’re even competitively priced with respect to Glock sights and triggers. So if you’re looking about getting into the upgrade game on the cheap, this is a great way to start.
  • They can help you improve reload speeds. Now we’re officially getting to the real argument behind why you can and should absolutely install a Glock magwell on your gun. As stated, a magwell serves effectively as a flared base at the bottom of the mag chute. This helps to funnel your magazines up into the mag shoot, making instinctively recharging the Glock easier and quicker. A magwell can help eliminate fumbling between reloads, and with consistent training, can help cut time off your reloads, too, so you can reload more quickly and more effectively – which can be a big difference in both competition and the real world. A well-designed magwell can also help ensure that magazines seat reliably and consistently, helping to prevent jams and other feed issues. (For more information on improving reload speeds, please see our previous post, Shaving Time Off Reloads with Your Glock.)
  • There’s no conceivable reason not to. Our Glock magwells are easy to install, unobtrusive, affordable, and perform a valuable function. There’s legitimately no reason not to install one; there are only good reasons (as have been delineated here) to invest in one.
